SUMMARY:ADRA CPD Event - Dr Amanda White
DESCRIPTION:ADRA will be hosting an event with Dr Amanda White\, President\, ANZAPPL (New South Wales) as guest speaker. Attendance to this event allows you to earn 1 CPD point. The topic for this event is “Cognition\, mental disorders and capacity in the legal context” \n\n\n\nThis presentation aims to explore the role of cognition and mental disorders when examining questions of legal capacity. Discussion will focus on how these factors may be relevant to various aspects of the law and related processes including instructing lawyers in proceedings\, executing decisions and an individual’s capacity to partake in mediation.Dr White will explain some of the neurological and psychological factors including autism spectrum disorder and personality disorder which may influence an individual’s cognition and capacity and provide information and basic strategies as to how to work with these presentations within this context. \n\n\n\n\nDr White is an endorsed Forensic Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist with extensive training and experience in the preparation of forensic psychological and neuropsychological reports. She is skilled in the comprehensive assessment of cognitive\, behavioural and psychological impairments associated with complex histories\, multiple comorbidities and a range of conditions\, including acquired brain injury\, neurodegenerative disorders\, psychological and psychiatric illness\, neurological conditions\, intellectual disability\, substance use disorders and forensic matters including risk assessment. She has extensive experience conducting assessments and reports surrounding decision making and capacity evaluations. She has appeared as an expert witness in the NSW courts and various tribunals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNote that the preferred attendance for this event is via Zoom (link will be on your ticket). The Law Society has seating for only 8 attendees

SUMMARY:MPN Sessions
DESCRIPTION:The Importance of REFLECTIVE Practice on your mediation sessions\n\n\n\nCo-ordinated by Josephine Reyes and Dennis Nolan \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFour MPNs are organised for the year and are held at the Law Society on the 4th Monday night of the month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. A zoom meeting is also concurrently held for those who cannot attend in person. Monday nights score two CPD points . As ADRA is a voluntary organisation we ask for a nominal contribution of $10.00 from members and $15.00 from visitors who are most welcome\, to help defray the costs. Please click here for more information on our events schedule for the year. \n\n\n\nMPN sessions give accredited mediators an opportunity to further their skills with two advanced mediators as convenors. Generally there is vigorous discussion and exchange of ideas at the meetings.ADRA members can organise a group to practise their mediation skills. The sessions were specifically designed for those mediators who become accredited but who do not get sufficient work to remain accredited and are intended to refresh their skills
